30 injured, 6 critical as vehicle overturns en route to Amit Shah's event in Chhattisgarh

NEW DELHI: At least 30 people were injured, six of them critically, after a mini goods carrier transporting them to Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s public event overturned in Chhattisgarh’s Dantewada district on Saturday, officials said.
The mishap occurred near Palnar village under Kuakonda police station limits when the vehicle was ferrying residents from Potali, a Naxal-affected area, to the venue of the event. “The driver apparently lost control of the vehicle and it overturned,” a police official said. “Six people have sustained serious injuries. Some have been admitted to the Kuakonda health centre while others have been shifted to the district hospital.”
The incident took place ahead of Shah’s address at the closing ceremony of the ‘Bastar Pandum’ festival, a cultural event organized by the Chhattisgarh government at a school ground in Dantewada.
Police said an investigation is underway to ascertain the exact cause of the accident.
