NEW DELHI: Karnataka home minister G Parameshwara said on Tuesday that no formal complaint has been lodged regarding the alleged honey trap case.
“So far, no complaint has been registered yet,” he told reporters.
Regarding phone tapping allegations, he stated that after checking with the concerned department, no complaint had been filed.
“No one has filed a complaint with me so far. Leader of the Opposition, R. Ashoka, has also made a statement. I have verified with the concerned department that no complaint has been registered yet,” he added.
Meanwhile, Karnataka minister KN Rajanna claimed he was targeted in a honey trap attempt and announced that he would meet the Home Minister to file a formal complaint.
“Today, I am going to file a complaint by meeting the home minister in person,” he said.
On Monday, the Supreme Court agreed to hear a PIL demanding an independent investigation into the honey trap allegations involving lawmakers, government officials, and judges in Karnataka.
The petition, filed by Binay Kumar Singh from Jharkhand, requests a CBI or SIT probe by officers not influenced by the Karnataka government. It also suggests that the investigation be monitored by the Supreme Court or a retired judge.
Earlier, Rajanna claimed that 48 people, including politicians and national leaders, had fallen victim to honey traps, and their videos had been shared online.
The petition also mentioned concerns raised in the Karnataka assembly, alleging that a political leader aiming to become chief minister had used honey traps to target multiple people, including judges. Since a sitting minister also identified himself as a victim, the claims have gained attention.
The case has sparked political and legal discussions, with demands for a fair and independent investigation.
