Reality show contestants wield weapon on reels, held

Bengaluru: After a reel video showing two Kannada TV reality show contestants wielding a long lethal weapon went viral on social media, police registered a suo-motu case and arrested the duo, Rajath Kishan G and Vinay Gowda, Monday.
According to DCP (west) S Girish, the accused were arrested under Arms Act and BNS Section 270 (public nuisance).
The social-media monitoring team of Basaveshwaranagar police found an 18-second video uploaded by Rajath on his Instagram profile ‘bujjjjii’. In the video, Kishan and Gowda exchange the weapon and pose with it while walking on the streets. Kishan is seen wearing a shirt with ‘D Boss’ printed on it. The police complaint said the duo posed as rowdies in a public place by flashing the lethal weapon, creating fear and disturbing peace of society.
The video was uploaded on March 19, and around 55,000 people liked it, 1,147 commented, and it was shared by 5,958 people. Kishan gave a caption, ‘bujjjjii when brother says…. I have a problem !!!! Kariya …..’.
After police tried contacting Kishan, he gave a caution message in the post stating, “Don’t try this at home. It’s for shooting purposes only, the property used in the shoot is a set prop.”
During interrogation, the two claimed they didn’t do the reel on the road, but in a studio in Nagarabhavi, and they didn’t use a real weapon, but a shooting prop. However, they failed to produce the prop. The duo will be produced before a court Tuesday, a senior police officer said.
