Bengaluru: A five-year-old boy who ran out of his house to join his grandfather waiting across the road was mowed down by a tractor at Thimmanahalli, Pavagada taluk, in Tumakuru district Wednesday morning.
The deceased is C Varun, the only child of Chiranjeevi couple, who are agriculturists.
The tragedy occurred at 8.30am when Shivalingappa, Chiranjeevi’s father, called the boy to join him on his morning walk. Shivalingappa would often take Varun with him and buy chocolates at a nearby shop. “Standing across the road in front their house, Shivalingappa called Varun, and he rushed out. At the same time, a tractor was passing in front of the house and Varun came under its wheels and died instantly,” police officer said. The driver fled the scene, leaving behind the vehicle.
