SC questions Telangana govt over 'hurry' to fell trees near Hyderabad University

NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court on Wednesday questioned Telangana government over “hurry” to fell trees land adjacent to the University of Hyderabad. The top court also directed the Wildlife warden of Telangana to urgently examine and take steps to protect wildlife impacted by deforestation across 100 acres of land in Kancha Gachibowli, Telanagana, near the University of Hyderabad.
This comes amid political row, as Prime Minister Narendra Modi, at a public meeting in Haryana on Monday, accused the Congress-led Telangana government of destroying forests with bulldozers, saying it was harming nature and wildlife. He called it “the working style of the Congress.”

Meanwhile, local voices have pushed back, alleging that the opposition spread false propaganda using artificial intelligence regarding the Hyderabad Central University (HCU) lands. They claim PM Modi’s comments were based on misleading narratives.
